Learning Skills Improvement Service

The Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) works in partnership with all parts of the Further Education sector to provide vision, leadership, clarity and high quality support; practising and enabling continuous self‑improvement and capacity building.

The mission of LSIS is to accelerate the drive for excellence with the vision that every learner acquires the skills, knowledge and appetite for learning, living and working and every provider is valued by their communities and employers for their particular contribution to sustainable social and economic priorities.

The service aims to be a hub for strategic dialogue and influence; to be a focus for new thinking an innovation in the sector, recognising greatness and expediting the sharing of effective and innovative practice.

LSIS has a comprehensive leadership portfolio which prepares sector leaders at all levels for the long term challenges of leadership in the context of reduced public expenditure. It also prepares them for even more complex local partnerships as the boundaries between organisations are blurred.
